Ika Eye Mission Report

The Ika Eye Mission, held on February 20-21, 2024, marked a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to provide essential eye care services to underserved communities. We are delighted to report that this mission was largely successful, with a notable impact on the lives of those in need.

Throughout the duration of the mission, a total of 546 patients received comprehensive care, including examinations and treatments. Additionally, 425 pairs of glasses were prescribed, catering to the visual needs of many individuals. Moreover, the mission successfully performed 101 cataract surgeries, restoring sight and enhancing the quality of life for numerous patients.

This report aims to outline the key accomplishments and outcomes of the Ika Eye Mission, highlighting the dedication and compassion of all involved in this noble endeavor.

The project focused on identifying and treating various eye conditions prevalent in the community. Through meticulous examination and targeted interventions, the project successfully addressed a range of eye health issues, ensuring improved vision and quality of life for the participants.

 Among the recipients, 360 were female, and 186 were male. The demographic breakdown reflects a diverse representation, indicating the inclusive nature of the project’s outreach efforts.

  • Specific age groups requiring interventions:
    • 10-30 years: 63 cases
    • 30-50 years: 204 cases
    • 50-70 years: 222 cases
    • 70-90 years: 57 cases

Eye Conditions Diagnosed:

The project identified several prevalent eye conditions among the participants, including:

  • Cataract  
  • Glaucoma  
  • Toxoplasmosis 
  • Retinitis Pigmentosa
  • Corneal Ulcer 
  • Allergic Conjunctivitis 
  • Pseudophakia
  • Pterygium1
  • Refractive Error 
  • Presbyopia 
  • Myopia
